February 17th, Sunday - GEEZER RIDE* TO RIVER CITY GRILL - 12:30pm meet at Greenough Park, corner of Locust & Monroe. Route takes you to the River City Grill in Milltown for a late lunch or milkshakes. 14 miles. Leader: Gayle & Ernie (240-9279).

March
March 2; Sun. – GEEZER REDUX – CEMETERY RIDE – Leave at 10:00 a.m. from Greenough Park (corner of Locust & Monroe). To Montana Club on N. Reserve. 12 miles. Gayle and Ernie (240-9279).

March 8; Sat. – BLUE MT – BIG FLAT – MULLAN RD – Leave at 10:00 a.m. from former 4-B’s on Brooks and Reserve. A short detour for an “Expresso” on N. Reserve, if desired. 25 miles. Shirl Braxton (728-4963).

March 9; Sun. - FORT FIZZLE FOLLY – Leave at 10:00 a.m. (daylight savings time) from former 4-B’s on Brooks and Reserve (or carpool to Lolo if desired). Bring a lunch or eat in Lolo on return. 35 miles. Ken Moe (239-9754).

March 15; Sat. – HAPPY TRAILS – Lolo to Bass Creek/Charlie Waters Campground along the Bike Trail. Carpool from K Mart at 10:00 a.m. or met at Conoco in Lolo (corner of Hwy. 12 and Hwy 93) at 10:30 a.m. Bring snacks or a picnic lunch or stop on return in Florence for soup. 35 miles. March 16; Sun. – TOUR d’ TURAH - Leave at 10:00 a.m. from Eastgate/Albertsons parking lot. Picnic at Turah Campground or lunch at River City Grill on return. 25 miles. Vickie Mikelsons (721-8540).

March 22; Sat. - FRENCHTOWN FRENZY FOR FRENCH FRIES & FROLIC – Leave at 10:00 a.m. from Perkins Restaurant/Mullan Station, corner of Reserve and Mullan. Lunch at the Coffee Cup in Frenchtown. 30 miles. Sue and Tom Roy (728-8319).

March 23; Sun. - 16TH ANNUAL EASTER RIDE – “Ride the North hills.” Meet at Eastgate/Albertsons parking lot at 10:00 a.m. to conquer Marshall Grade, Rattlesnake and Grant Creek. We’ll draw for a prize at the top of each climb. Remember every “UP” has a glorious “DOWN.” Bring a lunch or snack along the way during our frequent stops. 35-40 miles. Shirl Braxton (728-4963).

April 5, Sat. – SKALKAHO/SLEEPING CHILD RIDE – (from Hamilton) – Carpool from K-Mart Parking lot at 9:30 a.m. or meet at Coffee Cup Restaurant in Hamilton at 10:30 a.m.. Bring snacks. Late lunch back in Hamilton. 40 miles. John Crull (543-3230).

April 6, Sun. – FRANK WINKLER MEMORIAL RIDE TO NINEMILE – “ Frank led this ride for several years and it became a highlight of our TOSRV training rides. Frank always had a little prize for each rider.” Leave at 10:00 a.m. from Perkins Restaurant/Mullan Station, corner of Reserve and Mullan. Lunch at the Ninemile steakhouse. 55 miles. April 12, Sat. – MULE TRAIN TO NINEMILE REMOUNT – Leave at 9:00 a.m. from Perkins Restaurant/Mullan Station, corner of Reserve and Mullan. Bring a lunch or have lunch at Ninemile Steakhouse. 55 miles with 5 miles of gravel. Phil Stauffer (728-8262).

April 13, Sun. – 24th ANNUAL POTOMAC AWFUL BURGER RIDE – Leave at 10:00 a.m. from Eastgate/Albertsons parking lot. 55 miles. Paul O’Connell (240-0056).

April 19 and 20. Sat - Sun. – 12th ANNUAL HOT SPRINGS RIDE – Starting in Ravalli, ride through beautiful countryside past Oreo cows, Fjord horses, and herds of lamas to the historic Symes Hotel in Hot springs. Enjoy a soothing soak in the hot springs, great food, and evening entertainment. It’s delightful. $10.00 deposit by April 8th. 62 miles on Sat. and 41 miles on Sun. April 19, Sat. – BEARMOUTH TO DRUMMOND – Carpool from Eastgate/Albertsons parking lot at 7:45 a.m., leave by 8:15 a.m. and leave Bearmouth between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. Brunch at the Wagon Wheel Café in Drummond (approx. $7.50 each) about 10:30 a.m. 34 miles of great hill training. April 26, Sat. 33rd ANNUAL CHEESBURGER BOOGIE TO STEVENSVIILLE – Leave at 9:00 a.m. from old 4-B’s on Brooks and Reserve. Paved roads and Bike Trail from Lolo to Stevensville. A short trip to the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge is an option. Lunch in Stevensville. 55 miles. Bob Deaton (543-7704).

April 26, Sat. DEER CREEK SNEAK – If you feel like a ride on some dirt today, join the 15th running of this event. Meet at Eastgate Shopping Center at 10am. 22 miles, 3/4 dirt & 1/4 paved. We'll return to town on the Hidden Treasure Trail for some fun singletrack! Kathy York (543-6274).

May 3, Sat.- 6th ANNUAL SULA TO WISDOM. - Gibbonsville option- Double your Divides and Quattro your Passes (all in one day). Carpool from K-Mart parking lot at 7:30 a.m. or meet at the Sula Store at 9:00 a.m. Bring fluids, snacks and warm clothes. Lunch in Wisdom. Call Paul O’Connell to confirm. (240-0056).

May 4, Sun. – PAINTED ROCKS RESERVOIR – Carpool from K-Mart parking lot at 7:00 a.m. Ride starts at 8:00 a.m. from the Coffee Cup in Hamilton. 87 miles. A shorter ride, leaving from Darby is only 50 miles. Beautiful scenery. Paul Gibson (728-8722).

May 10, Sat. – AMBLE TO ALBERTON – Leave at 9:00 a.m. from Adventure Cycling, 150 E. Pine St. Lunch in Alberton or bring a snack. 65 miles. Bill and Heather (880-9040).

May 11, Sun. – 16th ANNUAL LOLO LULU - Leave at 8:00 a.m. from the corner of Brooks and Reserve (the old 4-B’s restaurant). Bring a lulu of a large lunch for a luau on Lolo Pass. 90 miles. Wayne Kruse (721-3095).

July 18, Fri. – FULL MOON GLACIER RIDE – Leave after work on Friday and carpool to Glacier Park. Ride Going to The Sun Highway in the moon light. Wayne Kruse.(721-3095).

WEEKLY AREA RIDES

Monday - Missoula Bicycle Works
Easy/ recovery group ride. This ride leaves from Missoula Bicycle Works at 6:00pm starting after daylight savings time. The pace is easy and is used as an instructional ride for beginners. Pacelines, drafting, echelons and other pack riding skills are emphasized. Usually the ride is no longer than 2 hours. Check the events area of

Tuesday - The Dirt Girls are doing mountain bike rides each Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.  Beginner/intermediate rides for all women.  Check out the web site for the next event http://www.montanadirtgirls.com  Check website or contact Julie to find out location of next ride.

Tuesday - Missoula Bicycle Works

The Hell Ride. This ride leaves from Open Road Bicycles at 6:00pm starting after daylight savings time. The first few miles through town are ridden at an easy pace but once out of town the intensity picks up and the pace is fast. Wednesday
Women's Mtn bike ride. This ride leaves from the foot bridge just north of the University at 5:30 pm starting after the snow melts and the trails dry off a bit; usually sometime in early May. This is a recreational, usually very social ride with a few hard efforts for those who are motivated. Thursday Night Mountain Bike rides

April - October these weekly rides are intermediate level. Average ride is 10 miles with 2,000 feet of elevation. Rides begin at 6pm at various locations. To be added to the notification list, contact Larry rxdentl@bresnan.net.

 

Saturday and Sunday
Group rides from Bernice's Bakery. Rides leave between 10am and noon. The rides are generally 2-4 hours long and start off at a fairly easy pace. Groups will form, and break off and go for various distances and intensities. Check the events area of

Saturday Group - Big Sky Cyclery Rides usually at blue mtn or crazie canyon trail head call for details. http://bigskycyclery.com/page.cfm?PageID=37 Rides require, at minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and your biggest smile! Many rides are held subject to weather. It's a good idea to confirm dates, time and any specific requirements, too. We'll see you out there — and have fun!
