Active Projects are currently described in the following link:
http://www.us93info.com/construction.php#link3 Bike paths have
been designed for certain portions of the reconstruction projects but not all
sections of Highway 93 from Polson to Evaro.
Note: Ninepipe/Ronan
-
Due to additional environmental, cultural, and social concerns not
evaluated in the original 1996 EIS, a Draft Supplemental Environment Impact
Statement is being prepared to evaluate development of the 11.2 mile Ninepipe/
Ronan section of US-93, extending from the Red Horn Road/Dublin Gulch Road
intersection to the Spring Creek/Baptiste Road intersection.
-
The draft SEIS will tentatively be published in early 2006.
There will be a 30 working day review and comment period. A public hearing will
be held during this period for public comment. Written comments are also
encouraged during this period.
-
All comments received will be included in the final SEIS and
considered in the decision of the project to be built. A final SEIS will be
circulated about five months after the end of the comment period and a record
of decision will follow about six weeks later.

Bike Lanes or Bike Paths are Needed from Arlee to Wye
Bike Lanes or Bike Paths are also needed from McClure Road North of
Arlee through Evaro to Wye West of Missoula. A blinking sign that is
illuminated only when pedestrians or cyclists are present would help increase
safety issues until these can be constructed.
There are no bike lanes in this area and there is no room in certain sections
for both vehicles and pedestrians and/or bicyclists. This section of
roadway is an area where many visitors both motorist and non motorist are
traveling.
July 19, 2001, Edy Wiersema, who came
from The Netherlands was hit by an RV mirror on Highway 93 North of Missoula
11.5 miles from the Wye. She did not survive her injuries. Edy
was riding a 26 day tour with 36 other cyclists. It was their
Transcontinental Tour (3,385 total miles, 130 miles per day, 98,420 feet of
climbing, 3,785' climb per day). She was on Day 5 when this accident
occurred. The annual TOSRV West tour was changed and started it's current
route in 2002.
