The Tour of the Swan River Valley West (TOSRV West) is a two-day, 226 miles, challenging bicycle tour through western Montana's most scenic areas. It was established in 1970 as a recreational and social event rather than a race. Missoulians On Bicycles, the event organizer, provides food stops, baggage shuttle and overnight arrangements so that you can concentrate on enjoying the cycling. TOSRV West is modeled after the original TOSRV (Tour of the Scioto River Valley) in Ohio. (www.tosrv.org)
We are returning to the original loop route this year. On Saturday we'll ride up along the Blackfoot and Clearwater rivers to Seeley Lake for lunch and then on to Bigfork for dinner and overnight. On Sunday we'll ride alongside Flathead Lake and south along the Mission Mountains to return to Missoula - the classic,scenic TOSRV West.
TOSRV West is also an annual fundraiser for our club, a non-profit group established to promote bicycling in western Montana. In the past we have made donations to: Adventure Cycling Association, Missoula Institute for Sustainable Transportation, Friends to Youth, Missoula Bike/Ped Office, Watsons Children Center, Camp Mak-a-Dream, Hellgate Radio Club, Potomac 4-H club, Seeley Lake Senior Citizens, Bigfork School, and Montana School of Massage.
