General Business Meeting    10 - January - 2006

The monthly meeting of Missoulians on Bicycles was called to order on 10, January, 2006 at 7:09 P.M. by President, Wayne Kruse.  Eight members were in attendance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the November meeting were approved as posted on the website.  There was no formal meeting in December.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Julie reported that the Club's current balance was $8996.  During the past month we had paid our club (around $900) and special events( $300 plus) liability insurances.

OLD BUSINESS
Phil and Julie reported that the Rails to Trails group continues to meet to secure a trail from Missoula to the Idaho border.  The next meeting of the group, to which all are invited, is Wednesday, 18 January at 7 P.M. in the Adventure Cycling meeting room.

NEW BUSINESS
Julie and Wayne reported that they had been contacted by Mike Pepper of KMP planners who is on contract with the Montana Department of Transportation providing technical assistance in reviewing traffic patterns between Missoula and Lolo. He is especially interested in stakeholder interests.  To that end a public meeting will be held Wednesday, 15 February from 5-8 P.M. at the Best Quality Inn, 3803 Brooks, Missoula.  Please attend and voice your support for:
---bike, hike trail between Missoula and Lolo to join the existing trail from Lolo to Hamilton.
---any reconstruction must include 4-6 foot shoulder for those cyclists who wish to ride on road.

Gordon Reese has organized a citizens group to support bike trails and watch dog what the Montana Department of transportation is up to.  Join Friends of the Bitteroot to voice your interest and stay informed.

Lech and Shirley are organizing the spring ride schedule. They are really working hard to offer varied rides.  Call either of them if you have ideas for rides or wish to lead a ride.  Sue will be helping them put a final schedule together.  We hope this year, particularly in early spring, to include some shorter rides to get some newer riders to join us.  Lech left us with these inspirational words about the rides scheduled:  Burnin daylight.  We bring em home alive!  With that leadership and spirit how can you pass up joining us for our spring rides?

ADJOURNMENT

Phil moved, Tom seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 7:37.

PROGRAM
Becky Douglas of Adventure Cycling led us in an hour long session of Yoga, focusing upon strength and flexibility exercises for cyclists.  Once we power past you on those spring rides you shall want to vow to start coming to our monthly meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 7 P.M. at Adventure
Cycling.
