TOSRV West . June 3 - 4, 2017
Montana's Bicycle Touring Classic . 200 Cyclists
Sponsored by: Missoulians On Bicycles
The Tour of the Swan River Valley West (TOSRV West) is a two-day, 226 mile, challenging bicycle tour through western Montana's most scenic areas. It was established in 1970 as a recreational and social event rather than a race. Missoulians On Bicycles, the event organizer, provides food stops, baggage shuttle and overnight arrangements so that you can concentrate on enjoying the cycling. TOSRV West is modeled after the original TOSRV (Tour of the Scioto River Valley) in Ohio. (www.tosrv.org)
On Saturday we'll ride up along the Blackfoot and Clearwater rivers to Seeley Lake for lunch and then on to Bigfork for dinner and overnight. On Sunday we'll ride alongside Flathead Lake and south along the Mission Mountains to return to Missoula - the classic, scenic TOSRV West.
Available again for 2017: A bus shuttle will run from Bigfork to Missoula on Saturday, June 3. The bus will leave Bigfork at 7:30PM and arrive at the University of Montana campus at approximately 10:00PM. The bus shuttle provides a one-day ride option for those with time constraints or competing obligations and will haul bikes and luggage as well. In addition to transporting those with reservations, seats may be available for riders with mechanical/physical challenges on Saturday evening on a first-come, first served basis. The shuttle will run only if we have a minimum of 10 riders signed up in advance. Cost for the shuttle is $30.00, payable in advance on your TOSRV registration form.
TOSRV West is also an annual fundraiser for our club, a non-profit group established to promote bicycling in western Montana. In the past we have made donations to: Adventure Cycling Association, Missoula Institute for Sustainable Transportation, Friends to Youth, Missoula Bike/Ped Office, Watson Children's Center, Camp Mak-A-Dream, Hellgate Radio Club, Potomac 4-H Club, Seeley Lake Senior Citizens Center, Bigfork Elementary School, Potomac Community Center, Arlee Fire Department, Ronan Boy Scouts, Condon Community Center, and Arlee Girl Scouts.
We hope you enjoy this Montana Classic as much as we enjoy sponsoring it. View more history on the event.
